White-collar crime target of symposium

The inaugural White Collar Crime Symposium, and other daylong events, will take place April 25 at Washington State University. Each forum will have a panel of professionals who will offer their insights on this topic.

The symposium happens 10:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., in Todd Hall, Room 133.

The panelists are Joseph Dervaes, audit manager of special investigations at the Washington State Auditor’s Office; Dave Taylor, partner at PerkinsCoie LPP; Robin Betts, FBI special agent; Tammy Johnson, forensic data analyst in the financial integrity unit of Microsoft Corporation; Karin Rohn, manager of KPMG Forensic; Traci Boyle, chief financial officer of the Seattle Symphony; John Weller, partner at Westburg Media Capital and Robin Roberts, professor at the School of Accounting at the University of Central Florida.

Other events include, Roberts presenting a paper titled “The Politics of Tax Accounting in America” from 2 to 4 p.m. in Todd Hall, Room 105 and a forum dealing with career options happening 9 – 10:30 a.m. in Todd Hall, Room 133.

As part of the day’s events, Beta Alpha Psi will sponsor a banquet from 6 – 10 p.m. at the Best Western Inn in Moscow.

All events are open to the public.

The School of Accounting, Information Systems and Business Law will sponsor the symposium in conjunction with the College of Business and Economics, the Bookie, the Foley Institute and the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice.
