ASWSU Films Presents “8 Mile” and Eminem Competition

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Associated Students of Washington State University Films Committee will be showing “8 Mile,” a movie starring rap icon Eminem, on Feb. 7-9

The show is scheduled for WSU’s Compton Union Building at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 7-8) and 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 9). Admission is $3 per person.

ASWSU Films will also host an Eminem look-alike contest and freestyle rap competition at Saturday’s 10 p.m. show. There is no additional cost to participate. “The committee decided to have some fun with 8 Mile,” said Timothy Hogg, co-chair of ASWSU Films. “We wanted to see if there was a real Slim Shady on the campus of WSU.”

Prizes will be awarded for the best Eminem look-alike and freestyle rapper, along with runner-up and audience participation prizes. Students are encouraged to arrive by 9:30 p.m. to pre-register.

This weekend, students can also purchase advance tickets for “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” which will be shown Mom’s Weekend in the CUB. Advance tickets are $3, and tickets at the door will be $5.
