PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University Madrigal Singers will present their 10th annual Madrigal Dinner at 6 p.m., Dec. 7 and 8 in the Carey Ballroom of the Compton Union Building.
The Madrigal Singers, one of six vocal ensembles in the School of Music and Theatre Arts, consists of 22 singers who perform in 16th century Renaissance-era costumes. Conducted by WSU music faculty member Lori Wiest, the Madrigal Singers will host an evening of dinner, drinks and music. They will perform traditional English madrigals and ceremonial music such as “Gloucestershire Wassail” and “Salute to the Boar’s Head” as well as many others.
The dinner, prepared by University Catering, includes appetizers of smoked salmon lox, assorted Cougar cheeses, seasonal fresh fruit, fried cocktail shrimp and spicy Italian sausages. Additional courses include early winter English salad, slow roasted prime rib with French mustard, cracked pepper and garlic, served with Au Jus, Yukon gold potatoes with onions and peppers, and steamed broccoli. The meal is concluded with a three-berry flan tart served with Devonshire cream. Wine and coffee also will be provided. A vegetarian entrée is available upon request.
