WSU Pullman pedestrian mall restrictions

In the coming weeks, WSU Pullman Police will begin strictly enforcing non-permitted vehicular traffic in pedestrian areas. New signs are in the process of being installed in the following areas to remind drivers of these restrictions:

  • College Mall
  • Library Mall
  • Terrell Mall
  • Veteran’s Mall
  • Wilson Mall
  • Troy Lane
  • Student Plaza

This is not an exhaustive list of restricted areas, and drivers should continue to obey all posted signs and traffic controls. Vehicles are only allowed in pedestrian areas with the appropriate service permits to conduct business for which the permit was issued, or for direct access to designated disability parking (permits required). Vehicles with approved access to pedestrian areas must access using the most direct entrance and exit route (no shortcutting through the pedestrian malls). Please note that Terrell Mall is always restricted to emergency and approved vehicles only.

Per RCW 46.61.050, any vehicle found to be in violation of these restrictions will be assessed a $139 fine. Exempt vehicles may access pedestrian mall areas to conduct official WSU business only. Employees shortcutting pedestrian malls or using exempt vehicles for personal business will be considered in violation and will also be assessed this fine.

If you have any questions about permitting, please email transportation@wsu.edu or call 509-335-7275. If you have questions about vehicular enforcement, please email police@wsu.edu or call 509-335-8548.
