WSU login changes arriving Aug. 7

On Monday, Aug. 7, at noon, Information Technology Services (ITS) will upgrade the interface for Okta, WSU’s primary authentication software.

This change is taking place mid‑day to reduce authentication delays at the start of the workday. Access to your WSU account will remain uninterrupted as password and multi‑factor authentication (MFA) settings will not be impacted by this scheduled upgrade.

As part of a continuous effort to improve the WSU user experience and reduce confusion by implementing any authentication changes during the new semester, the early August upgrade will introduce two low‑impact changes:

  1. Branding Update
The WSU login page will offer updated university graphics, logos, color palettes, and typography.
  2. Adjusted Authentication Process
The initial login step will be separated into two parts. Upon accessing the WSU login page, you will first be prompted to enter your username only. You will then be prompted on the next screen to enter your password. After successfully entering your WSU credentials, you will be prompted to complete MFA as normal.

Implementing this change before the new semester begins allows all students, faculty, and staff to adjust to the new interface before academic and business responsibilities intensify in mid‑August during the start of fall semester.
