The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) on the Washington State University Pullman campus is featured in the podcast “In the Margins” produced by Diverse Issues in Higher Education.
In the 53-minute podcast hosted by Ralph Newell, Michael Heim, director of WSU’s Migrant Education Student Access & Support, CAMP and High School Equivalency Program, talks about the unique challenges students from migrant and seasonal farm working backgrounds face and how CAMP helps them realize their educational goals.
CAMP is a federally funded program that helps 50 first-year students from migrant and seasonal farm working backgrounds transition to college each year. The program provides academic advising, team building, financial planning, and social activities as part of a comprehensive strategy to promote student success.
In September of 2024, CAMP was recognized as an Example of Excelencia, the highest recognition given by one of the nation’s leading Latine education organizations, Excelencia in Education.
The recognition led to CAMP being featured in articles for Diverse Issues in Higher Education and WSU Insider.
