This seminar on successful grant writing will address both conceptual and practical aspects. It will emphasize idea development, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies that have kept the presenter, M.S. (Peg) AtKisson Ph.D., funded continuously throughout her career. This presentation, designed to be both informative and entertaining, will render the principles and fundamentals of grant proposal writing in a way that can be applied across different potential funders of humanities and arts. This day-long session combines interactive presentation with hands-on practice to demonstrate how the thinking and writing differs between academic scholarship and grant applications. Because emphasis is on the principals and fundamentals of good proposal writing, the seminar is applicable to any granting agency and discipline. Plenty of time will be allowed for questions and discussion. An extensive handout and examples that illustrate points made in the seminar will help to ensure that there will be maximal gain for the time invested. Attendance at this program is a prerequisite in the follow-up, Mentored Proposal-Writing Workshop Series: Write and Submit a Competitive Grant Application.
