Join us for an hour of story and song with Johnny Moses!
Tuesday, October 29, 11 a.m., Bryan Hall Theatre, Pullman Campus
Johnny Moses is a Tulalip Native American raised in the remote Nuu-chah-nulth village of Ohiat on the west coast of Vancouver Island, B.C. He was raised in the traditional ways by his grandparents, and sent by his elders to share their teachings with all people. Johnny is a master storyteller, oral historian, traditional healer, and respected spiritual leader. He received the Washington Governor’s Heritage Award in 2012. His recently released CD set, Pacific Northwest Medicine Songs of the Four Seasons (Smithsonian Folkways, 2017), offers a direct connection to the powers and healing properties of each season. Fluent in nine Native languages, he is a traveling ambassador for Northwest Coast cultures. The event is sponsored by the WSU School of Music, the Ruth and Loran Olsen Endowment for Native American Music, Allegro, Ku-Ah-Mah, the Native American Women’s Association, and the Center for Native American Research and Collaboration.
