William Willard – Memorial Oct. 21

The Department of Anthropology is hosting a memorial in honor of Dr. William Willard.

Professor Willard died on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016. He was 89 years old.

Dr. William Willard was the son of Cherokee immigrants recruited by the Hume Bennett Timber Co. to the San Joaquin Valley in 1908.

Dr. Willard came to WSU in 1977 to direct the Native American Studies program and held a joint appointment in the Department of Anthropology. He retired from WSU in 1998.

The memorial will be held in the Museum of Anthropology, College Hall on Friday, October 21, at 3 p.m.
