Villanueva to present workshop on writing, teaching writing

Victor Villanueva, Regents’ Professor and Director of the WSU Writing Program, is presenting a workshop titled Writing as a Way of Doing from 12:10-1 p.m. Dec. 9 at WSU Pullman.

Villanueva, an award-winning writer and teacher, said the workshop will benefit both teachers of writing and their students by demonstrating how the act of writing is in itself an important part of learning. “Writing doesn’t just happen naturally,” he said. “It tends to happen through practice, as part of learning the discourse of a discipline.  What I hope to demonstrate is how that process happens—to make overt what is acquired tacitly.”

The workshop will be in CUE 518, and live-streamed online. Lunch will be served. The presentation is part of a series sponsored by the WSU Provost’s Office, WSU Teaching Academy and WSU Global Campus.
