Olha Hyrtsiuk and Ivanka Petrukha, Ukrainian artists from the Oleart Studio in Lutsk, Ukraine, will be showing recent works on paper and canvas at a reception in the atrium of Holland Library from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 24.
Ms. Hyrstiuk and her daughter, Ms. Petrukha, taught art, offered classes in art therapy, and, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, did art therapy with internally displaced persons from heavily bombed parts of the Ukraine. As recent refugee arrivals in the United States, they continue doing art with studio support from the Department of Art.
Works will be displayed in the atrium, and some works will remain on display in the upper atrium throughout the month of September. “We are looking forward to showing our works, which we hope will present a vibrant, uplifting image of Ukraine and Ukrainian art” says Ms. Hyrtsiuk.
The public is invited to this opening reception. Refreshments will be served. For more information contact Elizabeth Siler at mejia@wsu.edu.
