Turner-Rahman talk on Nash Collection, tomorrow at 5 p.m.

Lipi Turner-Rahman (Dept. of History, Libraries) will give a Common Reading talk, “Bringing to the Light: Digitizing Stories of Yakima Migrant Laborers in the Time of Covid” on Tuesday, March 8, at 5 p.m. via Zoom. Turner-Rahman will discuss efforts by WSU Libraries to digitize, identify, and tell the stories of the Yakima Valley migrant labor community, captured by documentary photographer Irwin Nash in the late 1960s and 1970s. The digitization of this collection, which contains over 9,000 images, is leading not only to fuller access to important images but also to a fuller understanding of the human, immigration, and labor history of our region.
