What people use and leave behind can provide a wealth of information to archaeologists. As demonstrated in this year’s Common Reading book, Garbology, trash can provide us with a window into our past. We can learn about people’s habits, behaviors, beliefs, and lifestyles.
Historical archaeology uses what people leave behind to better understand groups of the past as well as ourselves today.
“One Person’s Trash is Another’s Treasure: Historical Archaeology and the Study of Garbage” will be presented by Dr. Ken Faunce, History, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, in CUE 203. Everyone is welcome to attend!
The presentation is the first of this year’s Common Reading Tuesdays guest lecture lectures by faculty and other experts.
Garbology author Edward Humes will visit campus Oct. 7. Mark your calendars!
