The Foley Institute’s Science, Ethics, and Public Policy Series continues with:
The Science, Ethics, and Politics of GMOs and Your Food
Join our panel who will discuss the science and ethics behind genetically modified organisms (GMOs). With Washington Initiative 522 set for the ballot this November, learn about the process of artificially modifying genes, as well empirically and ethically-grounded stances on the situation. Are GMOs safe? Is it right for us to genetically modify our crops?
The panel will include Paul Thompson, W.K. Kellogg Chair and professor of Agriculture, Food, and Community Ethics at Michigan State University, Michael Neff, associate professor and director of the Molecular Plant Sciences Graduate Program at Washington State University, Chuck Benbrook, Research Professor and Program Leader at the Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources at Washington State University, and Heather Hansen, executive director of Washington Friends of Farms & Forests.
