The Marvels of Science Pumpkin Drop

Join us for this year’s version of smashing pumpkins at the Pumpkin Drop at Webster Physical Sciences Mall. Saturday’s events start at 9 a.m. with “Marvels of Sciences” demos and experiments from Physics and Astronomy, Geology and Environmental Sciences, the Optical Society of America/SPIE “Year of Light” events, and fun kid’s activities. Rocks, fossils, science toys, books, and t-shirts will be on sale, along with information hand-outs and Kind Bars (nutrition from pumpkins).

At 10:10 a.m., there will be a demonstration on volcanoes, and at 10:30 a.m. the Pumpkins will start dropping with “Whose Physics Law is it Anyway?”  While admitting that dropping pumpkins out of windows is fun but falls short of “science,” we still endeavor to enlighten the masses with demonstrations and explanations of the physics behind gravity.

Please bring dad and come celebrate science with us!
