The WSU Office of Emergency Management will be conducting the fall semester test of the WSUAlert system on the Pullman campus Tuesday, September 13, at 12:05 p.m. Faculty, staff and students associated with the Pullman campus who have signed up for emergency notifications will receive text messages, phone calls, and emails which will be clearly identified as a test. This test will also include the campus outdoor warning sirens, which are designed to warn you that you should take shelter and seek further information from other WSU Alert resources such as alert.wsu.edu.
Washington State University places the safety and security of its students, employees, and visitors as its highest priority. WSU has developed the WSUAlert System to disseminate official information via email, text messages, telephone, loudspeakers, Alert Website, and other means to notify the campus population of emergencies or threatening situations. For example, in an active shooter situation, you will be made alert to the incident through WSUAlert. Assess your situation based off of your location and resources available to you. Choose the best action that ensures your safety. You can:
Run: Quickly evacuate the building, leaving your belongings behind.
Hide: If it is not safe to evacuate, hide in an area out of the intruder’s view, such as under your desk. You may be told to shelter in place, which means seeks shelter where you currently are located. Lock and barricade the door, and turn off lights and silence cell phones.
