The Common Reading Program hosts Consumer Food Safety Specialist Stephanie Smith for a talk on the intersection of food safety, security, preservation, and waste reduction at noon on Thursday, Nov. 21, via Zoom. Smith, a faculty member in the WSU School of Food Science, brings to her research on food safety a background in both microbiology and environmental science. As we head into the holiday season, join us to learn more about the issues of food safety and preservation we should all keep in mind, as well as their connection to food security and waste reduction.
This talk is part of the year-long series of events being hosted to complement the use of Priya Fielding-Singh’s book How the Other Half Eats: The Untold Story of Food and Inequality in America as the WSU Common Reading. For more information on the program, see commonreading.wsu.edu.
