The Learning Innovations Team at AOI is excited to host guest speaker, Dr. Heloisa Rutigliano, for a one-time, virtual Special Topics Training on Oct. 19 from 1–2:30 p.m. for her presentation, “Hitting Pause: Practical Ways to Incorporate Lecture Breaks to Reinforce Learning.”
Dr. Heloisa Rutigliano is an Associate Professor at the School of Veterinary Medicine at Utah State University. She earned her DVM degree from Sao Paulo State University in Brazil, and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Animal Biology from the UC Davis. Dr. Rutigliano has taught Animal Physiology, Immunology, and Veterinary Ethics and Professionalism at the School of Veterinary Medicine at Utah State University since the program’s inception in 2012.
Dr. Rutigliano believes that as an instructor, she is a catalyst of learning rather than an expert who simply delivers information to students. Dr. Rutigliano uses active learning methods to promote student engagement and the application of class content. She has received regional, university, and national awards, including the Utah State University Teacher of the Year Award, the APLU Western Region Teaching Award, the NACTA Educator Award, and the WIMU Excellence in Pre-Clinical Teaching Award.
Dr. Rutigliano will be joined by the Learning Innovations Team’s Faculty Liaison, Brian Malone, who will demonstrate how to use Dr. Rutigliano’s strategies in various course modalities.
