Shipping delays with FedEx 1‑day/same day airfreight service

FedEx, express side, has moved to a standard that is creating issues with 1‑day/same day incoming shipments across the region. They have discontinued the use of feeder planes that moved between Spokane and their regional hubs: Lewiston, Tri‑Cities, Sandpoint, etc. They are trucking to these out laying hubs now. This is creating delays to the time 1‑day/same day shipments arrive on the Pullman campus, as late as 1:30 p.m. When the FedEx truck arrives this late, it creates instances where Central Receiving and Delivery may not be able to meet same day delivery of these items throughout the Pullman campus. FedEx’s commitment is delivery by end of business day which means they can deliver to the Pullman campus as late as 4 p.m. When they deliver this late in the day, most of the shipments will come directly to Central Receiving and Delivery rather than distributed throughout campus by FedEx. CR&D drivers begin their airfreight deliveries around campus at 12:30 p.m. If FedEx airfreight arrives after 12:30 p.m. there is a high likelihood their airfreight will not make it out to campus from CR&D until the following day.

To mitigate issues that may occur with late day deliveries by FedEx, you may want to compare alternate shipping options. Other shipping providers may be better able to meet the timing needs for your shipment.
