How to Series: Conflict of Interest, Ethics, and Commercialization – Sept. 19

Plan to attend this informative presentation if you are currently involved in a startup based on your research discoveries or planning to do so.

This panel is intended to cover the conflict of interest and ethics issues faced by WSU researchers when they engage in outside activities with external entities. Sometimes these external entities are other industry partners, and at times these are start-up companies created by the employee(s) themselves. The panel covers Washington State ethics law and its application to the outside activities by WSU employees. This will be followed by WSU Ethics Policy 27 (EP27), a safe harbor that governs technology transfer activities by WSU employees. EP 27 is a university policy that outlines the conflict of interest procedures managed through the COI committee.   The Chair of the COI Committee outlines the committee’s procedures and how COI is managed at WSU.

The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.
