Seminar: ‘Bacterial Patterns of Pathogenesis in Intestinal Immunity’

The Department of Translational Medicine and Physiology welcomes Dr. Read Pukkila-Worley, UMass Chan Medical School, Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology to WSU Spokane on Tuesday, Dec. 12. He will be providing his seminar, “Bacterial Patterns of Pathogenesis in Intestinal Immunity,” at noon in SCCRS 250 and via Zoom (Meeting ID: 980 3874 0192).

Dr. Read Pukkila-Worley is an infectious diseases physician and PI of the lab. He received his MD from UNC-Chapel Hill and completed his clinical training at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Read was a postdoc with Fred Ausubel, PhD at MGH before joining the UMass faculty in 2015. The major goal of the Pukkila-Worley laboratory is to characterize mechanisms of immune homeostasis in intestinal epithelial cells. His aim is to use these discoveries to identify innate immune pathways that can be exploited to develop new therapies, which can modulate host immune activity.
