Seeking research participants for study on neck strength

We are recruiting research participants for a study on head posture, neck strength and neck muscle activity in healthy subjects as well as People with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (PALS). This information will help us to understand how posture, neck strength and muscle activity may be related to clinical outcomes and to improve assistive devices, such as neck collars and head-controlled wheelchairs. You do not have to be diagnosed with ALS to participate.

The 2-hour study can be done either in Pullman or in Spokane at the Steve Gleason Institute for Neuroscience Adaptive Technology Center. It will consist of answering survey questions, having sensors placed on your neck, and exerting to generate your maximum neck strength against resistance. Participants must be at least 21 years of age. Participants will receive a $30 Fred Meyer gift card to help with travel expenses. If you are interested and want to learn more about inclusion criteria and protocol, please email Anita Vasavada at vasavada@wsu.edu.
