Seeking participants for Boredom and the Brain Study

We are looking for 18- to 25-year-olds to participate in a study on how they feel about their free time and experience boredom.

Participation involves visiting WSU’s Childhood Cognition Lab housed in the Department of Human Development for 1-1.5 hours at a convenient time. Participants will receive a $15 gift card.

During the study, people are asked to fill out questionnaires and perform a decision-making task, such as judging whether two lines will cross paths.  During these tasks we will be recording people’s brain waves using electroencephalography (EEG) and heart rate using electrocardiography (ECG).

The goal of the study is to understand more about how people experience boredom and its link to the brain.

To schedule an appointment or for more information, please contact the WSU Childhood Cognition Lab via email at: child.cognition.lab@wsu.edu.

This research study has been reviewed and approved for human subject participation by WSU Institutional Review Board (IRB # 17106).
