Screening of ‘Wasted! The Story of Food Waste’ April 8

The Common Reading Program is hosting a screening of the documentary Wasted! The Story of Food Waste on Tuesday, April 8, at 4:30 p.m. in CUE 203 on the Pullman campus. This 2017 documentary, produced by the late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, takes viewers around the globe, showing the 1.3 billion tons of food that is thrown out each year and introducing those at various levels of the food chain working to prevent this waste. Those highlighted include famous chefs who transform what most people consider scraps into incredible dishes that create a more secure food system. The documentary presents a new lens through which to view food and offers solutions on how producers and consumers can make better use of it at every level. Hosted by the WSU Common Reading Program, this screening is part of a year-long consideration of topics raised by the 2024–25 Common Reading How the Other Half Eats: The Untold Story of Food and Inequality in America by Priya Fielding-Singh.
