Registration opens tomorrow for Round Bag Weaving Workshop

Registration opens at noon tomorrow, Feb. 1, for spots for the two round bag weaving workshops being led by artist-in-residence Jacy Sohappy (Taamamno llp llp — “Red Hummingbird”) on Feb. 23 and 24. The two full-day workshops will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art on the Pullman campus. Sohappy, the traditional arts manager at Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts, will lead up to 12 participants at each workshop in the creation of a mini-round bag using traditional techniques. The workshop is free and open to all, with all materials and lunch provided courtesy of the Common Reading Program, which is cohosting the event with the Museum of Art.

Registration is required to attend. For each workshop, six of the twelve available spots are reserved for WSU students.

Sohappy will also be presenting with Michael Holloman on traditional indigenous arts at a talk at noon on Feb. 22 at the Jordan Schnizter Museum of Art.
