Registration is now open for Washington State University’s third annual Veterans and Military Affiliated Students Symposium being held Nov. 10.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the senior ballroom in the Compton Union Building on the WSU Pullman campus. There will also be an option to attend virtually.
“Over the past three years, we’ve found this to be an amazing opportunity for our students, staff and faculty, as well as our community partners, to come together for a common cause — to enhance the veteran and military-affiliated student experience here at WSU,” said Penny Martinez, manager of veterans and military affiliated student affairs for WSU Pullman.
The purpose of the event is to strengthen WSU’s military-affiliated student community by elevating student voices, showcasing new resources and achievements for WSU’s military-affiliated students, and uncovering new needs, possibilities, and aspirations as this community looks to the future. This year’s theme is “Resiliency and Transition.”
The symposium will feature speakers including James Cook, a retired general, trainer for the Veteran’s Affairs Administration, and former CEO of a Fortune 100 company who runs a nonprofit organization focusing on veteran transition and resiliency.
The event will also include opportunities for open discussion. Students, staff, alumni, and community partners associated with all campuses in the WSU system will be in attendance. Lunch will be provided for those attending in person.
We want military-affiliated people from all of WSU’s campuses and locations to attend his event,” said Martinez. “Ultimately, we want to put a spotlight on these incredible students. We want to share their immeasurable contributions to our organization and demonstrate to the whole university community and its leadership how important it is to build and maintain a successful, thriving military-affiliated student program.”
Those interested in attending the symposium in-person or online can learn more and register on WSU’s system-wide Veterans and Military Affiliated Students website.
