We are looking for children 6-10 years old to participate in a study on how children learn to complete everyday tasks such as making a snack or getting ready for school.
Participation involves about a 1-hour visit to the WSU Childhood Cognition Lab housed in the Department of Human Development. We will schedule an appointment at a convenient time for your family.
During the study, your child will be asked to do a series of everyday tasks like they do at home (e.g. packing a backpack). During these tasks your child will wear a lightweight set of glasses that records where your child looks and what your child says to help us understand how they make decisions. Your child will also be asked to play a series of short games that are designed to assess how children think. For example, in a simple rule following game your child might be given a blue circle and asked to find an object that has a matching shape, such as a red circle.
The goal of this research is to advance our understanding of how a child’s cognitive skills help them carry out everyday activities at home and at school.
Children will be given a small gift for their participation.
