Picture a Scientist documentary viewing

WSU Health Sciences Spokane Office of Research presents Picture a Scientist on Thursday, February 11.

Picture a Scientist is a feature-length documentary film chronicling the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. A biologist, a chemist and a geologist lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, overcoming brutal harassment, institutional discrimination, and years of subtle slights to revolutionize the culture of science. From cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we also encounter scientific luminaries who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.

WSU Health Sciences Spokane’s Office of Research is hosting this virtual screening in conjunction with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on Feb. 11. This screening is co-hosted by the Association for Faculty Women, the Commission on the Status of Women, ADVANCE at WSU, the Women’s Center, the Graduate and Professional Student Association, GIESORC and the Vancouver Office of Research.

The screening is open to anyone across the WSU system and there is no cost. Guests can access the virtual showing beginning Feb. 11. Registered guests can watch the film at their leisure through Feb. 14.
