As a reminder, all benefit-eligible employees need to do something during the Open Enrollment period, as the university transition to our new life insurance carrier, MetLife.
- Current beneficiary information will not transfer to MetLife, and should be entered in your Met Life MyBenefits.
- Basic spouse, basic child(ren), and dependent accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) policies will not transfer and need to be applied for to continue.
- The employer-paid basic policy and employee and spouse optional/supplemental life insurance coverage will automatically transfer to MetLife. You are eligible to increase employee coverage to $500K, and spouse coverage to $100K without any medical evidence, even if you were previously denied coverage. Additional coverage is available through the underwriting process.
To make changes to your life insurance and name your beneficiary(ies), go to MetLife’s MyBenefits portal before November 30, 2016. Hard copy forms are also available at HRS or on the HRS Life Insurance Open Enrollment website.
