PEBB Eligible Employee: You MUST re-attest if you have a spouse/domestic partner on your medical coverage

During November all employees who 1) are enrolled in a WSU medical plan, and 2) carry their spouse on their medical coverage, will need to re-attest for the 2015 Spousal Surcharge.  Failing to do so will result in the $50 a month surcharge being applied for the 2015 plan year.

The attestation you provided earlier this year was to cover the period of July 1 – December 31, 2014.  Since the medical plan premiums have changed for 2015, you will need to complete the attestation again in order to determine if the $50/month surcharge will be applicable to you in 2015.

To answer the surcharge questions, you will need to do the following:

  • Log-in to your HCA “My Account” and complete the 2015 Spouse or Registered Domestic Partner Coverage Premium Surcharge questions.
  • If you answer “Yes” to all the questions, you will also need to run your situation through the Spousal Plan Calculator.  A copy of your spouse’s/partner’s Summary of Benefits and Coverage for the medical plan they are offered will be needed to complete the calculator.

If an employee is subject to the surcharge, or if they fail to address the surcharge questions, they will see the additional charge begin to be reflected on their January 9, 2015 paycheck.
