This hands-on computer lab occurs from 1-4pm and incorporates a variety of exercises using the BusinessObjects tools. Using actual WSU financial data, you will practice running pre-built reports and queries, building simple ad-hoc queries and reports, importing and exporting data, and formatting basic reports. Andrew Kasarskis, Associate Professor, Genetics Department, Mount Sinai School of Medicine will present “Drugs as Goals and Drugs as Tools in a Multiscale Genomics World”  Friday, Oct. 3, at 3:10 p.m. in Abelson 201.

You can gain valuable skills that prepare you for emergencies with safety education classes. University Recreation offers American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED courses with the option for First Aid certification. The Carson College of Business Department of Finance and Management Science invites WSU students to attend Insurance Industry Professionals Night Tuesday, Oct. 14, in Todd 430, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. A panel of speakers representing different areas in risk management and insurance will discuss their jobs, provide career advice to students, and answer questions.

Don’t forget to submit your photos to the Outdoor Photography Contest sponsored by UREC’s Outdoor Recreation Center and the Student Entertainment Board! Photo submissions will be accepted until Oct. 15 and may be submitted in one of five categories: landscape, action & adventure, wildlife & still life, cultural and fun with light. The top 5 photographs in each category will be displayed on the ORC Gnome Facebook Page (facebook.com/orcgnome), as well as the Student Entertainment Board Gallery in the CUB. Enjoy the beauty of the Palouse with UREC’s Sunset Paddle at Snake River. Regarded as one of the most scenic rivers in the United States, Snake River is a prime destination for kayakers of all experience levels. Grab a paddle and join us for a kayak trip on the Snake River! The trip is on Oct. 8 from 3:45-8:30 p.m. and registration ends Oct. 5. Registration is $25 for SRC members and $40 for non-members. Interested in summiting UREC’s climbing wall? Register now for one of our belay clinics in October! Belay clinics provide the basic instruction needed to climb, belay a partner and work our autobelay systems. Clinics are offered every Monday and Thursday in October from 7 to 9 p.m. You must register at least one day in advance and the registration cost is $7. The Tobacco Free Survey is now open for employees with a Pullman work location. Emails containing the survey link have been sent to Pullman employees and hard copies have been mailed to Pullman employees without WSU email accounts. WSU Undergraduates recently passed Referendum 43-01 in support of a tobacco free campus. This Tobacco Free Survey is being conducted to review Pullman Faculty and Staff responses on the topic of WSU becoming a tobacco free campus.  The survey will remain open through Oct. 10.
