Office of Student Conduct is taking applications for board members

The University Conduct and Appeals Boards are seeking faculty, staff, and student board members for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The University Conduct Board hears matters that may result in suspension or expulsion.   When a student or student group is alleged with violating the WSU Standards of Conduct for Students, the University Conduct Board provides an opportunity to be heard. The Board holds a hearing, examines all information presented, and determines whether the student or student group is responsible for violating the Standards of Conduct for Students.

The Appeals Board is composed of students, staff, and faculty who review a decision made by the University Conduct Board, or a conduct officer, that a student violated the University’s Standards of Conduct for Students. When a student disagrees with a decision or sanctions imposed by the Conduct Board or a conduct officer, they may appeal the decision to the University Appeals Board.

In addition, the Academic Integrity Hearing Board is looking for faculty to review appeals by students when a faculty member has alleged that an academic integrity violation has occurred.  The Academic Integrity Hearing Board determines whether or not the violation occurred and whether or not the academic sanction imposed is in accordance with the course policies

All of these opportunities provide interesting and valuable training and experience.  In addition, your service will contribute to student’s educational process by holding students accountable, giving them an opportunity to grow and develop, fostering self-determination, and increasing retention and resiliency.
