Nov. 19 | myWSU: Query Foundations

Hosted by Amanda Taylor and Lenna Wenke, this training is the first in a series of two Query training courses, and will focus on basic functions of the query tool and give participants hands on experience in creating and running simple queries. The following concepts will be addressed:

  • Common Elements Used in Query
  • Query Preferences
  • Understanding Query Types
  • Selecting Records
  • Joining Records
  • Adding Fields
  • Defining Selection Criteria and Relating Multiple Criteria
  • Defining Prompts
  • Changing Columns and Sort Orders
  • Viewing and Editing Field Properties
  • Viewing and Editing Query Properties
  • Viewing Underlying SQL Code
  • Previewing Query Results Before Saving
  • Saving Queries
  • Running Queries
  • Using Lookups and Prompts
  • Downloading Query Results

Participants are expected to pass a written examination and complete a final query activity before moving on to attend the Advanced Query Techniques course.
