Nominations now open for Oaks Academic Technology Award

Nominations are now being accepted for the sixth annual Oaks Academic Technology Award. The self-nominated award recognizes instructors for their innovative application of technology to transform teaching and learning in their classroom (face-to-face, asynchronous online, or videoconferencing).

Academic Outreach & Innovation (AOI) established the Oaks Award in honor of the visionary leadership of Muriel Oaks, WSU Dean Emeritus. Last year, Ben Pingel, a faculty member at the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, was the winner of the 2021 Oaks Academic Technology Award. Pingel was recognized for his innovative use of multiple software tools to allow students to get online assistance with the highly involved software programs required for his Multimedia Content Creation (COM 210) course.

Instructors on any WSU campus wishing to be considered for the Oaks Award are invited to submit an application. Instructors can also nominate their colleagues or encourage them to apply. Nominations will be accepted until March 22 at 11:59 p.m.

The winner will receive $3,000 in faculty development funds, distributed to the award winner’s academic department. To apply or learn more about the award, including the evaluation rubric, visit the Oaks award application webpage.
