Microsoft to retire legacy version of OneNote, October 2025

As part of Microsoft’s transition to newer platforms, support for the OneNote for Windows 10 application will officially end on Oct. 14, 2025. After this date, this version of the application will become read-only and will no longer receive security updates, bug fixes, or feature enhancements.

This change will not impact the supported OneNote version that is currently available through Microsoft 365, Windows 11, or the Microsoft Store.

To ensure uninterrupted access to notes, WSU users are encouraged to verify their current version of OneNote. If using OneNote for Windows 10, WSU users should transition to the supported OneNote version, confirm successful migration of all notebooks, and uninstall the Windows 10 version of the application.
