Colleagues and Friends—A retirement reception for Dr. Margaret Black is planned for Wednesday, January 23, 3:30-5 p.m. in the Biotechnology Life Science Building Room 402.
Dr. Black retired on January 15 after more than 20 years of service to the university during which time, she was the J. Roberts and Marcia Fosberg Distinguished Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Director of the Pharmacology/Toxicology Graduate program before coming to the School of Molecular Biosciences.
Dr. Black also served as training faculty and on the executive steering committee, then Director of the NIH Biotechnology Training Program at WSU, was twice President of the WSU Association for Faculty Women, and received the Samuel H. Smith Leadership Award in 2013. She has served on the WSU Faculty Status Committee, Faculty Hearing Committee, Committee on Committees, the Provost Search Committee and the Provost’s Advisory Committee for Tenure and Promotion.
During her tenure at WSU she mentored 8 postdoctoral fellows, was advisor to more than a dozen graduate students, nearly 50 rotation students, and more than 25 undergraduates including 6 Honors thesis students and 2 Goldwater recipients.
