Washington State University celebrates International Women’s Day, March 8, with variety of events Monday – Friday, March 4 – 8.
Several art exhibits in SEB Gallery and Holland & Terrell Library will be open to public starting Monday, March 4. The exhibits showcase the social context of fashion over time and other aspects of women’s fashion, from art, culture to pain.
On Tuesday, International Women’s Week Social from 3 – 5 p.m. at Butch’s Den honors people at WSU who have made an impact on women’s lives. Community members can nominate someone they would like to see honored at https://wsu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8uckox3nQmrme7r. The event is free of charge, but required RSVP.
The International Students Council showcases cultural clothing from many parts of the world from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, in Holland & Terrell Library atrium. Some students will be there to present and answer questions about their outfits and culture.
On Friday, March 8, carnations with inspirational notes will be handed out from 11 a.m. to honor International Women’s Day. A representative from Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse will have a discussion at the International Center, CUB L46, during Fashion as Identity Coffee Hour from 3 – 4 p.m. The Student Entertainment Board is showing Clueless from 6 – 8 p.m. on the same day in CUB Auditorium.
