Because of the flooding damage to the Spokane Postal Service center on Tuesday night, paychecks may be delayed one to three days. Although no paychecks were damaged, the US Postal Service had to route all WSU paychecks to the Seattle processing center. Western Washington checks will be sent from there. The Pullman Post Office had not received local paychecks for delivery as of 7:30 a.m. today so employees in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho can expect to receive their paychecks in the next one to three days. Employees who have not received their paychecks by Monday morning may contact Payroll Services to initiate the replacement check process which takes an additional day . Checks to student employees in residence halls will be delivered today since these checks are not sent through the USPS.
WSU Payroll Services always recommends that employees take advantage of direct deposit. Direct deposit is free and paychecks are automatically posted to employee bank accounts on payday, avoiding problems with mail delivery.
At this time the USPS has not issued a timeline for restoration of normal service.
