WORD Fellows applications open for spring

The WSU Writing Program invites faculty system-wide to apply to be members of the WORD Fellows cohort for spring 2025.

WORD is the acronym for Writing Occurring Rhetorically in the Disciplines. To date, 40 faculty from numerous fields have become Fellows in four cohorts since 2021.

Fellows are compensated for completing the program successfully. All clinical- and tenure-track faculty on all campuses are welcome, including those who use writing in their curricula or want to integrate writing into their courses.

Twelve group sessions will begin January 30 and end April 24. Up to 10 participants will collaborate in experiential workshops, exploring with peers and experts several approaches to teaching with writing as opposed to teaching writing. Between meetings, Fellows will reflect on personal goals for students’ writing, program lessons, and their plans to develop a scaffolded writing assignment.

Lisa Johnson Shull and Brooklyn Walter are co-facilitators and are available to answer questions about the WORD Fellows program.
