All floors of Chinook Student Center open

The basement floor of the Chinook Student Center is open, and all three levels are available to students on the Washington State University campus.

The basement floor is the final installment in the hybrid recreation center and student union building. It features saunas, a weight room, cardio area, all-gender locker room, and men’s and women’s locker rooms. The three-story building includes lounge and study areas, recreation space and dining options.

A ribbon cutting will be held at noon on Monday, May 1, in the Chinook Student Center First Floor Event Room. The event will celebrate the completion of the Chinook and recognize the student supporters who brought this truly unique space to campus.

The Chinook project is a renovation of WSU’s old campus bookstore, The Bookie, which had been vacant since the store relocated to the Compton Union Building in 2008.
