Financial aid deadlines for the 2017-18 academic year are changing, and it’s important to make students aware of these new dates as they return to campus this fall.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be available Oct. 1, and students will use their 2015 tax information on their applications. The FAFSA is due Nov. 30 for current students, and the WSU general scholarship application deadline is Jan. 31, 2017. The same dates apply for the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA).
These earlier dates will allow students and their families to better anticipate financial aid and college costs for the upcoming year.
These are the important dates and WSU filing deadlines to know and share with students:
- Oct. 1, 2016: 2017-18 FAFSA/WASFA opens for completion.
- Nov. 30, 2016: Priority filing deadline for returning WSU students.
- Jan. 31, 2017: WSU General Scholarship Application deadline.
