FedEx & UPS shipments of dangerous goods/hazardous materials

When a material considered to be a DOT Dangerous Good or IATA Hazardous Material is offered to FedEx or UPS, it is being offered into “commerce”.  There are stringent federal transportation regulations WSU must adhere to when materials are offered into commerce.  It is the sole responsibility of the offeror/shipper to ensure that all applicable shipping requirements have been met when a package is offered into commerce.  Even though FedEx or UPS may accept your shipment, which they eagerly do, it is not their responsibility to ensure that your package is legal or that the offeror has the regulatory required training.  The Office of Research Assurances has shippers certified and trained by the Department of Transportation (DOT) to assist the WSU community with these type of shipments.  Please call upon and use them if you are not properly trained.

The Notices and Announcements section is provided as a service to the WSU community for sharing events such as lectures, trainings, and other highly transactional types of information related to the university experience. Information provided and opinions expressed may not reflect the understanding or opinion of WSU. Accuracy of the information presented is the responsibility of those who submitted it. The self-uploaded posts are reviewed for compliance with state statutes and ethics guidelines but are not edited for spelling, grammar, or clarity.
