Federal Express delivery and pickup processes

The Federal Express Corporation is divided into companies that operate independently. The companies include FedEx Ground, FedEx Express, and FedEx Freight. Delivery of inbound and the pick-up of outbound packages and freight are handled differently by each company.

  • FedEx Ground handles small package freight up to 150 pounds with a 1-5 day ground service. All FedEx Ground packages are processed through Central Receiving and Delivery. FedEx Ground does not deliver or pickup packages directly from campus departments. Please contact Central Receiving for the pickup at 335-5575. Do not contact FedEx ground directly.
  • FedEx Express handles small package freight up to 150 pounds also. They provide next day air service within the United States and time-definite international service. FedEx Express delivers and picks up from both Central Receiving and Delivery and the campus departments. You may contact Central Receiving at 335-5575 for a pickup.

FedEx Freight is a LTL (less than truckload) transporter. The freight is typically 151 pounds or more and generally palletized. LTL shipments are loaded onto semi-trailers usually between 26 and 53 feet.  All FedEx Freight shipments are processed through Central Receiving and Delivery so please contact Brady Allen at 335-4529 regarding LTL shipments
