Faculty: Updates and changes in Activity Insight

Faculty who log in to Activity Insight later this fall will see that on the Goals page there will be an opportunity to describe any effects that COVID-19 has had on your teaching, research/creative scholarship, service, and outreach/engagement/extension. This will provide context for your work during the 2020 reporting year. We also recommend that you report on any changes you may be making for 2021 related to COVID-19 effects in the Goals section.

Faculty will also notice some changes in the user interface. These changes are designed to improve user experience and to enhance compatibility with mobile devices. There are no changes that affect previously entered data, and no substantive changes in the data we are collecting. The changes are:

  • Structure and content of data entry screens are not changing.
  • Text in dropdowns will now wrap so you can see the entire option before clicking.
  • Instead of clicking arrows to reorder entries, you will be able to drag and drop them.
  • A loading indicator to let you know the screen is saving or loading.
  • Now you can use drag and drop to upload files.
  • Changes in format for display of short help text.
  • Bold, italics, and other rich text formatting options for large text area boxes.
  • All fields will be the same size with placement and formatting adjustments to labels.
  • Name at time of publishing will be stored so future name changes will not impact those records.

Please contact senior vice provost Laura Hill (laurahill@wsu.edu) if you have questions.
