Washington State University faculty with innovative ideas to enhance student learning are encouraged to apply by March 18 for a Smith Teaching and Learning Grant of up to $7,000, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Mary F. Wack announced.
Faculty, including those who are clinical-track and instructors, from all campuses are eligible. They must have instructional responsibilities and a half-time or more appointment, with continuing employment in 2019-20. They cannot have received this grant in the past four years.
Applicants must be endorsed by their chair, and need to provide a wide variety of information in their proposal. They must answer questions such as “What identified pedagogical or curricular issue will be addressed?,” “ To what departmental undergraduate assessment data does your project respond?,” and “What work will be undertaken within a defined budget and timetable?.”
“We have had the pleasure of awarding Smith grants to dozens of WSU educators for more than a decade,” said Wack. “Their diverse creative projects have resulted in educational advances and new programs and pedagogies across the university. As a result of the Smith grants, thousands of undergraduates have benefited from transformative educational experiences.”
