Extreme cold weather — wind chill watch

A wind chill watch has been issued by Spokane for the surrounding areas effective through Friday at 4 a.m. With temperatures dropping below zero throughout the area, dangerously cold wind chills could drop to 20 degrees below zero or lower. Temperatures are projected to be around zero throughout the weekend with the possibility of winds also.

We have all gotten used to the warmer weather and it will have a harder impact especially with the wind chill ranges from zero to 20 below zero. Remember to dress warmly and in layers that cover your skin, pay attention to ground conditions for ice and drifting snow, wear footwear that provides good traction, and stay warm.

Limit or avoid extended exposure to extreme cold temperatures. Please read the Wind Chill Temperature Index from the National Weather Service for additional information.

Be safe and stay warm Cougs!
