Enable new Excel data sync setting for Microsoft Forms

Following a recent update to Microsoft’s implementation schedule, Microsoft Forms will transition to a new solution for syncing form response data to Microsoft Excel for the web starting Monday, Jan. 13, 2025.

This sync solution change will impact WSU faculty and staff who access Microsoft Form responses in Excel to analyze and visualize data.

The new Forms sync solution will replace the current data sync solution that exists in the following form types by Jan. 13:

  • Forms created from Microsoft OneDrive and Excel for the web
  • Group forms created with SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft 365 Groups

WSU employees who view form responses in Excel and own forms created via the above methods are encouraged to enable the new data sync solution as soon as possible to continue receiving form response data in their Excel workbooks.

After Jan. 13, online Excel files configured with the older data sync will no longer update with new form response data. However, form owners can enable the new data sync via Excel for the web anytime to resume response data collection for their workbook.

Please review additional information on enabling the new Excel data sync solution.
