Join the Administrative Professional Advisory Council (APAC) for the first meeting of 2020 on Thursday, January 9 from 9-10:30 a.m. in Lighty 405 (Pullman) and Zoom video conferencing.
Following the standard order of business, WSU Spokane will be hosting two employee workshops focused on techniques and exercises for improving wellness, managing emotional health and reducing stress.
The first workshop will be a 15-minute, interactive mindfulness session with Julia Hayes, owner of Souls Center, LLC—a spiritual classroom in Spokane, WA.
The second workshop will focus on understanding the individual and social challenges that exist in stressful environments.
Led by Matt Layton, psychiatrist and clinical professor with the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, this workshop will include breakout sessions and teach employees ways to identify whether experiences at work, in relationships or in parenthood are normal or dysfunctional by asking the question, “When does stress turn into an anxiety disorder for which someone might need professional help?”
This group exercise will be a way for participants to gain insight into the coping skills and strategies that have been successful for others.
Both workshops are open to all administrative professional staff, civil service staff and faculty. Faculty and staff at WSU Spokane are encouraged to attend in person in SAC 347. All other locations are invited to participate via Zoom.
