Is your department, class, or student group planning an event or program related to the November 8, 2016 national elections? Your input is needed to help earn the WSU system national recognition for democratic engagement. As a system-wide challenge, events and programs from all WSU campuses are needed.
The WSU system is registered for both the national NASPA Voter Friendly Campus designation and the Campus Vote Project’s All In Challenge. Both of these designations will recognize universities for their democratic engagement efforts during this fall’s election cycle. To be recognized, WSU must submit a campus plan this summer outlining efforts on each WSU campus to engage students and increase voter turnout.
If your organization is planning an event or program related to the November election, please send your event details to Erin McIlraith, WSU Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) Marketing and Communication Coordinator, at emcilraith@wsu.edu by Friday, July 22, 2016. Your event does not need to be finalized to be included in the campus plan; please share as much information as you have available by the July 22 deadline.
Relevant events and programs will be cross-promoted on the https://cce.wsu.edu/cougsvote website and CCE social media platforms. Individuals who submit events and programs for these national designations will also have access to Cougs Vote branded materials and will be included in the planning coalition for these two national designations. Coalition members will receive updates on the status of WSU’s applications for these two national designations and will be asked to provide information on their organization’s events and programs for the final reports due in January 2017.
