EECS Faculty Dr. Ananth Jillepalli recognized by Harvard as a Science and Democracy Network Fellow

The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Washington State University continues to advance its leadership in science-based public service as Dr. Ananth Jillepalli, career-track assistant professor on the Pullman campus, has been recognized as a Science and Democracy Network (SDN) Fellow by Harvard Kennedy School.

This distinction places Dr. Jillepalli among approximately 440 global scholars acknowledged by the Science and Democracy Network for the quality and significance of their scholarship in the field of ethical scientific studies. As an SDN Fellow, Dr. Jillepalli integrates socially responsible scientific practices into WSU courses, capstone projects, and independent studies, providing students with early exposure to ethics-driven, democracy-enhancing decision-making skills in technological applications. These applied experiences enrich classroom learning while strengthening pathways to internships, research opportunities, and career readiness.

This recognition aligns with WSU’s commitment to student learning that is grounded in social responsibility and ethical reasoning. Through continued collaboration between WSU and the Science and Democracy Network, Dr. Jillepalli plans to expand interdisciplinary initiatives that connect engineering innovation with public-interest research and civic engagement.
